(JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN) – The National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) hosted a high level Ecobank South Sudan delegation in Juba on 28 September 2026 for talks on fund management, investment and digital transformation.
The delegation was led by Ecobank Board Chairman Mr. Tutu Stephen and Managing Director Mr. Didier Koffi Yobou.
They met NSIF Managing Director Hon. Reech Ring Bol and the Fund’s senior executive management.
The meeting focused on building institutional cooperation and a framework for collaboration in fund management, prudent investment, digital transformation, financial technology, systems integration and financial controls.
On fund management, Ecobank expressed interest in exploring cooperation with NSIF in managing the Fund’s financial resources.
Both sides noted the importance of prudent financial management, transparency, accountability, security, risk management and effective governance.
They said they were ready to examine practical ways Ecobank could support NSIF in strengthening its financial management framework.
The talks also explored opportunities for prudent and sustainable investment of NSIF resources.
Both sides agreed any future investment cooperation should be guided by sound governance, risk management principles, regulatory requirements and liquidity considerations.
The aim is to manage NSIF resources responsibly while supporting the Fund’s financial sustainability and long term growth.
A major part of the meeting was a proposed integration between the National Social Insurance Digital Platform (NSIDP) and Ecobank’s banking infrastructure.
The integration is expected to cut manual processes, improve transaction efficiency, enhance reconciliation and strengthen reporting.
It would also support more effective management of contributor payments and financial information.
Particular attention was given to advancing an API connection between NSIDP and Ecobank.
The proposed link is expected to create a secure digital connection supporting efficient transactions, automated processes and timely information exchange.
It could also improve reconciliation, reporting and internal financial controls, and become a key part of NSIF’s digital transformation agenda.
The meeting noted the importance of strengthening NSIF’s financial control environment.
Areas of possible cooperation include transaction monitoring, automated reconciliation, financial reporting, audit trails and data integrity.
These measures would support strong institutional governance and responsible management of contributors’ resources.
Hon. Reech Ring Bol briefed the delegation on the start of the NSIF contributor registration programme on 1 October 2026.
He noted the importance of reliable banking and digital infrastructure for registration, contribution collection, remittance, reconciliation and reporting as NSIF expands.
The discussions went beyond a conventional banking relationship and set a foundation for a long term strategic partnership.
Areas of cooperation include fund management, investment, digital banking, API integration, financial technology, payment systems and institutional capacity development.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Reech Ring Bol welcomed the delegation and thanked Mr. Didier Koffi Yobou and Ecobank’s senior management for the visit.
He repeated NSIF’s commitment to turning the discussions into concrete, measurable and mutually beneficial initiatives.
He said NSIF is committed to partnerships that strengthen financial governance, prudent investment, digital transformation, transparency and accountability.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to move from talks to practical implementation.
Both institutions agreed on the need for continued executive and technical engagement to develop action points, responsibilities, timelines and monitoring mechanisms.
The meeting marks a significant step in the emerging relationship between NSIF and Ecobank South Sudan.
It provides a foundation for stronger cooperation in financial management, investment, technology and institutional development.
